Cookie notice
Short and simple: GymThrottle uses one essential cookie to keep you logged in. There are no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.

Cookies we use
| Name | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|
PHPSESSID | Strictly necessary. Keeps you logged in and protects sign-up with the captcha. It's only set when you log in or sign up, and scripts can't read it. | Up to 30 days, or until you log out |
Because this cookie is strictly necessary to provide the service you ask for, UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) doesn't require consent for it. Visiting the home page without logging in sets no cookies at all.
Things saved on your device
To make the app fast and work offline, your browser also keeps some settings in local storage. These stay on your device and aren't used to track you:
- Your light or dark theme choice
- A copy of today's workout and any sets you haven't synced yet, so focus mode works with a poor gym signal
- Whether you've seen the quick tour, the cookie notice and the “Add to home screen” tip
- Dismissed announcements
The app also stores its files in your browser's cache (via a service worker) so it loads quickly and opens offline.
Visit counts without cookies
We count things like page visits and sign-ups to see where people get stuck. This uses no cookies and stores nothing on your device. Each visit is turned into a scrambled code that changes every day, so we can count daily visitors without recognising anyone or tracking them over time.
Managing cookies
You can delete cookies and site data in your browser settings at any time. If you block the login cookie, you won't be able to log in. See our Privacy policy for more on how we handle your data.
